What do I wear for my session?General Clothing Tips for Timeless Portraits: Selecting the right clothing is a pivotal aspect of creating a captivating portrait. When clothing becomes too noticeable or overpowering, it risks diverting attention from the main focus—your unique expression and personality. Slimming Shades: Opt for darker clothing for a slimming effect. Subdued tones work wonders in highlighting your features without overshadowing your essence. Mindful of Bright Hues: While vibrant colours add flair, they can draw attention away from the face. If opting for brighter shades, consider toned-down pastels for a harmonious and flattering look. Nature's Palette: Pale yellow and pale blue, especially paired with jeans or khaki pants, create a picturesque blend, especially when surrounded by nature. Lighter shades, including a classic white, convey simplicity and freshness. Elegance in Contrast: Pairing white shirts or blouses under a dark jacket exudes timeless elegance, offering a refined yet simple aesthetic. Steer Clear of Prints and Logos: Prints, patterns, and logos can be distracting in a portrait. Opt for solid colours to maintain focus on the genuine emotions captured in the frame. Sleeve and Length Considerations: Avoid short sleeves and pants, ensuring a classic and enduring look for your portrait. Accessories in Moderation: While accessories can add flair, large or heavily noticeable pieces might distract from the main narrative. Opt for minimal and straightforward accessories to enhance rather than overpower. Remember, the goal is to create a portrait that stands the test of time, capturing your authenticity and personality. These clothing tips aim to guide you towards achieving a timeless and visually stunning result.

What do I wear for my maternity portrait?Celebrate the beauty of your growing baby bump with a carefully curated maternity photoshoot. To showcase that radiant glow, consider wearing a black or white button-down top that easily unbuttons at the bottom, allowing you to elegantly reveal your belly. Alternatively, a long flowing dress adds a touch of grace, accentuating the joy of this special journey. We encourage fathers-to-be, and any other little ones in the family, to join in the magic. Coordinating outfits with the mother not only enhances the visual harmony of the photos but also creates a heartwarming family portrait. Feel free to bring along props that hold sentimental value — whether it's gifts, tiny shoes, or a subtle nod to the gender of the baby. These personal touches add a unique and meaningful layer to your maternity photos, telling a story that goes beyond words. At this joyous time, we aim to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, capturing the love and anticipation that surrounds your growing family. Don't hesitate to share your ideas, and together, we'll create timeless memories that you'll cherish for a lifetime.

What do we wear for our family portrait?Thoughtful planning for your portrait begins with the right clothing choices. Don't hesitate to reach out before your session, and I'll gladly assist you in curating the perfect outfit. Here are some key tips to guide you: Simplicity is Timeless: Opt for simple and coordinated outfits. Avoid busy patterns and large logos that may distract from the essence of your portrait. Solid Colors Shine: Stick to solid colours as they photograph exceptionally well. Consider the timeless elegance of solid tones to ensure your portraits remain classic. Denim Delight: Jeans are a versatile and timeless choice, offering a flattering and casual look. They're perfect for capturing those spontaneous, joyful moments. Bright or Serious, Your Choice: Lighter shirts on top contribute to a casual and vibrant aesthetic, while darker shirts impart a more serious and contemplative mood to your portraits. The choice is yours! Harmony in Coordination: Aim for colour-coordinated outfits among family members. While not a uniform, having a theme ensures a harmonious visual narrative. Perfect Fit for Little Ones: Ensure children's outfits fit well, avoiding overly baggy attire. Jeans or khakis paired with white or black tops create a timeless and polished look for the whole family. Remember, thoughtful wardrobe choices enhance the visual impact of your portraits. Feel free to connect with me beforehand for personalised styling assistance.

What should my child wear for their portrait?Capturing Cherished Moments: Guidelines for Children's Portraits Creating timeless individual portraits for your children involves a thoughtful approach to clothing and personal touches. To ensure a cohesive look, I recommend adhering to the family portrait clothing tips—avoid large logos, branding, or cartoon character images, as these can be distracting and may date the images over time. While a change of clothing during the photo session is absolutely fine, I suggest limiting it to 2-3 changes to maintain a seamless and focused narrative. Remember, the goal is to highlight the genuine personality and essence of your child. The inclusion of props can add a delightful touch to the portraits, such as a hat, glasses, or a cherished toy. However, the appropriateness of props depends on the age and temperament of the child. I recommend bringing a favourite toy or promising a treat, as these often work wonders in eliciting natural and joyful expressions. My aim is to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for your child, allowing their true personality to shine through. If you have any specific ideas or preferences, feel free to share them, and together, we'll craft portraits that encapsulate the unique spirit of your child at this precious moment in time.
